For an nicely-finished look to the end of the cigarette, you can use the blunt end of a small diameter pen to push any loose strands of tobacco into the tube or use a pair of scissors to snip off the loose strands.
If there is any tobacco left in the tube nozzle, clean it out before going on with making your next cigarette. A clogged nozzle can jam the machine and possibly damage it. This type of damage to the machine may void the manufacturer's warranty.
We cannot emphasize enough how important it is to keep your machine clean and well-lubricated! A small, soft, clean paint brush is very useful to remove tobacco dust from your machine. Use a warm damp cloth to remove any tobacco residue build-up. All machines must be kept lubricated regularly. To get to the moving parts of the crank type machines, turn the machine over and remove the rubber base, if the machine has one. You can use a soft paint brush dipped in light oil (we recommend vegetable oil because it has little or no odor) to work the oil into the moving parts. Wipe off any excess oil before replacing the base of the machine. Work the mechanism back-and-forth several times before continuing to make cigarettes.
If you should damage the white plastic tube nozzle of an Escort Deluxe or Premier Deluxe machine, remove the rubber base of the machine and you will find a spare. Grasp the damaged nozzle with thumb & forefinger and pull it straight up out of its slot. Put the new one in (it really only goes in one way) and you are back in business.
