How To Roll Your Own Cigarettes The Traditional Way

6 Easy Steps to the perfect hand-rolled cigarette . . .

Step One:
We recommend that you work on a flat surface if possible and place a piece of paper under the machine to make it easy to clean up after you have rolled your cigarettes.

Step Two:
Place the rolling machine on the flat surface with the movable roller facing toward you. Spread the rollers apart and push the apron of the machine down between the rollers to form a trough.

Step Three:
If you are going to roll a filtered cigarette, insert a filter into the trough before you insert the tobacco. Either end of the trough will do. Insert the tobacco as evenly as possible into the trough, making sure that you push tobacco toward both ends of the trough. It will take a little experimentation to figure out how much tobacco to use but you should never over-fill the trough because this will stretch the machine apron over time or even split the apron seam.

Step Four:
Grasp the machine with both hands and use both thumbs and push the rollers together. Don't force the rollers together. If you have too much tobacco in the trough, stop, open up the rollers and remove some tobacco. Now that you have pushed the rollers together, place both thumbs across the closed trough and roll both apron-covered rollers toward you, alternating pressure from thumb to thumb to keep the machine closed. Do this for several revolutions of the apron to form a nice tube of tobacco inside the trough. Remove any loose strands of tobacco that may be sticking out of the machine.

Step Five:
Keeping the rollers of the machine closed, insert a cigarette paper, gummed side up and toward you, into the slot formed by the rollers (don't moisten the paper yet). Now, use your thumbs to roll the front roller toward you to continue inserting the paper into the slot. Stop when the paper is about half way down into the slot ( if the paper is not going into the slot straight, stop, reverse the process to remove the paper and reinsert it).

Step Six
Now lightly moisten the gummed edge of the paper ( a moistened cotton swab is real handy if you are going to be making a number of cigarettes at a time) and continue the rolling process until the paper has completely disappeared into the slot and the apron has made several revolutions through the machine. Hold the machine closed for a few seconds to allow the glue to set, then open the machine rollers and the finished cigarette will pop right out.
